Vimar or BTicino : which one to choose for your home automation or smart system

The electrical system is one of the main elements of your home and, as such, is the subject of important choices which concern not only the installation and functionality of the various circuits located inside the junction boxes, but also purely choices more aesthetic ones regarding switches, sockets, buttons and plates, also seen as a furnishing element.

For this reason, first of all it is essential to choose the civil series to install in your electrical system. If you are renovating your home or building a new electrical system, you will have immediately asked yourself the question: which civil series to choose? Which brand is best?

We know very well that important companies coexist on the market, leaders in the electrical sector that offer a vast range of electrical products. Among these we find BTicino and Vimar , both able to satisfy any user need by offering products guaranteed in quality and durability over time.

BTicino or Vimar : here's how to choose

As already mentioned, both BTicino and Vimar are companies that have been operating in the electricity sector for years and have in common the mission of offering products capable of satisfying every need of the end user at any time. Both leading companies offer very high quality products thanks to the materials used in their production and a vast catalog capable of offering many solutions to satisfy any need.

On a technical level the differences between BTicino and Vimar are few and almost irrelevant . The main difference between the two brands, however, concerns the aesthetics and design of the various electrical controls and devices such as buttons, switches, sockets and plates which can be more or less pleasant depending on your purely personal tastes .

Price question: BTicino Matix Vs Vimar Plana

Another difference that can be found is certainly the issue linked to the price factor. At first glance, considering the prices, one might think that the Plana series by Vimar is the cheapest series. However, it is important to say that both brands present more or less economical lines. It is therefore not exactly correct to say that Vimar is the cheapest house but that, depending on the line chosen, prices can be more or less cheap. Still talking about prices, it is a good idea to combine Vimar Plana with the Matix BTicino series, a range for which BTicino offers quality with an essential product ensuring affordability.

A further difference between Vimar and BTicino also concerns the installation capacity . In fact, if all the Vimar domestic series can be installed to contain up to 7 controls, the same thing cannot be said of BTicino , in which only the Livinlight series is suitable for containing 7 switches.

Design question: BTicino or Vimar ?

We said that one of the main differences between the two brands concerns the design . Speaking of lines and aesthetic appearance, both BTicino and Vimar offer the most luxurious series possible , able to best harmonize with the environment in which they are installed, respecting its modernity. In this case, the Living Now line, latest release, for BTicino and the Eikon Vimar series should be taken into consideration. In particular, if your need is to create an electrical system that is as modern and cutting-edge as possible, the best choice could fall, in this case, precisely on BTicino . With the BTicino Living Now line it is in fact possible to create a connected and functional electrical system while also focusing on design and aesthetics.

Speaking of home automation or Smart systems...

Vimar or BTicino which one to choose

However, the fact remains that Vimar also offers a wide choice if your needs are to create a smart system . In fact, it is possible to manage the home lights, the shutters and even control the burglar alarm in your home, simply remotely. Speaking of home automation, one of the differences that characterizes the two companies concerns the cabling system. All Vimar home automation devices can be connected at any point in the system without the need for configurators. For both the Vimar and BTicino devices it is necessary to connect the controls to the Bus cable and the actuators to both the Bus cable and the power but, as regards BTicino , it is advisable to install the BTicino My Home configurators. Vimar , on the other hand, uses a system called By-Me Plus with a dedicated View app.

Differences between plates and switches

As regards the individual elements, the differences are almost minimal and concern only the details. The plates, both Vimar Plana and BTicino Matix, are all made with the same materials , and the finishes tend to be similar, possibly varying in detail. The plates of the other lines are in fact available in technopolymer, metal but also in wood, stone and glass and, as you can imagine, the material is the main factor that influences the final price of the product.

The same goes for the switches: the materials with which they are made are similar as are their internal mechanics. Both the Vimar switches and the Bticino switches are therefore of excellent workmanship as are all the rest of the products. Both companies also produce controls that can be illuminated by different colored warning lights which must be mounted on the back of the control itself as long as it can be illuminated. The only thing to pay attention to is the model of the light. In fact, in addition to the principle of incompatibility between the two brands of Vimar indicator light and BTicino indicator light, you must be careful when installing the indicator lights for the rocker buttons or for the axial ones depending on the ones you have installed in your home.

Choosing the brand and consequently the civil series with which to create your electrical system is therefore an important choice and must be made with awareness of the necessary knowledge. It is in fact important to know that once a civil series has been chosen it could be complicated to change it, precisely because each civil series is not compatible with any other . If, for example, you choose to install Vimar Arké, all the controls that make up the light point must be from Vimar Arkè, as well as the frame and plate. This is because there is no compatibility between different brands or even between civil series from the same manufacturer.

Customer service

As regards the warranty , support and assistance , both Vimar and BTicino provide excellent services and there is no one better than the other, both deal with managing their customers in a serious and professional manner.

As reiterated, it is therefore purely a question of aesthetic and personal taste in the design of these articles or in the trust placed in the company.
